This watch has been dubbed the “Accurate” not so much for its abilities to keep accurate time, but for its reminder about our inevitable demise. Following in the tradition of memento mori, the Accurate watch continuously alerts us to the fact that life is short and that we should strive to seize the day. Damn...this thing would make me question everything I do.

Things are starting to blow up in Tibet now. In case you haven’t been keeping up with the news, check out the links in the other post to read about protests turning violent, bullets, fires, beatings, arrests, and tanks. This seems to be the crossroads for the CCP. I mean what are they going to do with riots in Tibet while the entire world is watching and the Olympics coming in a few months?

In the face of past foreign criticism of Chinese policy over Darfur, Tibet, human rights, journalistic freedom, and all that lingo, the CCP ministers generally just dismissed them all as foreigners trying to tarnish the image of the Olympic games. Now, they have their own people rising up, not just peaceful protests like the Falun Gong in the past, but actually beating up the Chinese, burning things, and fighting the police. The Chinese foreign minister has already made the traditional statement about how the Dalai Lama has masterminded this uprising and the chairman of Tibet has stated that “We will deal harshly with these criminals who are carrying out activities to split the nation”. In these times of such crisis and with so much on the line, the CCP has continued to use the same old rhetoric as if repeating the same statements will eventually convince the rest of the world that they are the good guys and the Dalai Lama is evil. It seems like it’s only a matter of time before they start running over monks with tanks and machine gunning Tibetan citizens.
